What are the odds? Baby with local ties accidentally ends up in The Forum Life section today … by way of Wisconsin!

We had a story on Scandinavian names in The Forum’s Life section today. The story draws on “A Handbook of Scandinavian Names” which is soon to be released by the University of Wisconsin Press. We ran a copy of the book cover, which features a ridiculously cute baby in a Viking helmet. We also used the image of the baby on the front page to tease to the story inside.

Well, it turns out that the adorable, little guy is actually the grandson of Fargo photographer Meg Spielman. Meg took the photograph of Jackson Hendricks, who lives near the Twin Cities, when he was about 4 or 5 months olds. He’s now 18 months old.

The photo was purchased as stock art, but Spielman didn’t know what it was going to be used for. She posted a link to the story on her Facebook site and added the following: “So funny I’ve sold this photo several times and wondered what in the world someone would use it for!”

  1. That’s such a cool connection! I don’t most of us know about “stock photos” so this is a cool example.

And the baby is totally adorable. You can pluck just about anything on top of a chubby naked baby and get cute…but the photo is definitely the work of a talented photographer! Perfect for the story.
