Photos: A buffalo, a house in a sea of blue and green … and a dog-purse thingy

I love people. They’re so interesting, quirky, strange, funny, predictable and unpredictable.

A couple of weeks ago, I was out to the western Dakotas for a little getaway with the family. On the way back from the Black Hills, we stopped in De Smet, S.D., to visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Homes. My wife grew up reading and loving the “Little House on the Prairie” books so this was a real treat for her.

While we were there, I saw this image and just had to take a photo. The lady at the exhibit informed me that pictures weren’t allowed (I hadn’t noticed the sign), but not before I captured this:

Yep, that’s a dog in bows being carried like a purse in a rainbow-colored sling by a broad-shouldered guy.

From the same trip, here’s what appears to be an abandoned building on a Dakota farm. We had some lovely traveling weather. (Click on the image for a larger view)

And here’s an image of a buffalo in Theodore Roosevelt National Park. (Click on it for a larger view).
